What is this Layered psd?

Layered PSD (Photoshop Document) is source file where you can do modifications of Emoticon. First thing you will definately need is Adobe Photoshop CS version (or higher). And recommended to have an Adobe illustrator, because some elements can be modified only there (mostly small parts). By “Layered” we mean that every element like mouth, eyes, or hand are on seperate layer grouped into folder, and ofcource every little detail like small shadow or wrinkle is also on seperate layer and available to modify

how to change the color?

It’s very easy to change color of body. To change color of other elements you’ll need to have Photoshop/Illustrator knowledge little bit higher then “first-time-user”, but even if you are this first-time-user, you’ll change body color in 2 secs!

  1. First unlock the “Body” folder (it’s locked by default so that body worked as “background”),
  2. Open folder and find a layer called “Body”
  3. Double-click on round blue thumbnail and viola

How to make new smilies?

The easiest way to make new smileys is drag and drop folders with elements from one PSD of smiley to another.

Open two smileys (or more, if you like) so that windows floating somewhere close to each other.
If your Photoshop doesn’t allow floating windows, go to Preferences>Interface> and make sure “Enable Floating Document Window Docking” is switched on.
Example:

new_smiley_1

We select the “mouth” folder of the angry smiley and drag and drop it on the happy smiley on the background. After that you happy smiley will have two mouths. Switch off(click on the eye icon) or delete the folder of old mouth and now you have a new smiley

Note: We gave some helpful tips about how to work with Emoticons in Adobe Photoshop, but we don’t provide “Adobe Photoshop For Beginners” consultations – it’s simply not our job. When you buy a car, car dealers doesn’t have to teach you to drive, right?

What can i do with emoticons

There is a lot you can do with transparent PNG image, firstly – it can be placed on any background. Secondly it can play it’s main role – express you emotions, so any chat messaging that support external images can be a good place to use. (for ex. Skype doesn’t support it, but Facebook does) just go to emoticonshd.com and choose the smiley you like from any pack and copy it’s url, or drag and drop with mouse to a new window and you’ll get link like emoticonshd.com/smileys/01.png cause every smiley have it’s number. You can convert them into dock icon on your desktop, decorate you blogs, emails, infographics, presentations, use as avatar, gravatar and many many more, as long as your creativity can handle it. And ofcource developers might like it to use in their apps or projects.

What is “regular license”?

Regular license added by default to all items you buy (256x256px, 512×512, or PSD)

1. The Regular License grants you, the purchaser, an ongoing, non-exclusive, worldwide license to make use of the digital work (Emoticons) you have selected.
2. You are licensed to use the Item to create one single End Product for yourself or for one client (a “single application”), and the End Product can be distributed for Free.
3. An End Product is one of the following things, both requiring an application of skill and effort:
(a)The End Product is a customised implementation of the Emoticon
(b)The End Product is something that incorporates the Item as well as other things, so that it is larger in scope and different in nature than the Item
4. You can create one End Product for a client, and you can transfer that single End Product to your client for any fee. This license is then transferred to your client
5. You can make any number of copies of the single End Product, as long as the End Product is distributed for Free.
6. You can modify or manipulate the Item. You can combine the Item with other works and make a derivative work from it. The resulting works are subject to the terms of this license. You can do these things as long as the End Product you then create is one that’s permitted under clause 3.

Restrictions

7. You can’t Sell the End Product, except to one client. (If you or your client want to Sell the End Product, you will need the Extended License.)
8. You can’t re-distribute the Item as stock, in a tool or template, or with source files. You can’t do this with an Item either on its own or bundled with other items, and even if you modify the Item. You can’t re-distribute or make available the Item as-is or with superficial modifications. These things are not allowed even if the re-distribution is for Free.
9. Although you can modify the Item and therefore delete unwanted components before creating your single End Product, you can’t extract and use a single component of an Item on a stand-alone basis.
10. You must not permit an end user of the End Product to extract the Item and use it separately from the End Product.
11. You can’t use an Item in a logo, trademark, or service mark.
12. The author of the Item retains ownership of the Item but grants you the license on these terms. This license is between the author of the Item and you.

What is “extended license”?

In simple terms, the main difference is that under the regular license your end product (incorporating the item you’ve licensed) is distributed for free, whereas under the extended license your end product may be sold.

1. The Extended License grants you, the purchaser, an ongoing, non-exclusive, worldwide license to make use of the digital work (emoticons) you have selected.
2. You are licensed to use the Item to create one single End Product for yourself or for one client (a “single application”), and the End Product may be Sold.
3. An End Product is one of the following things, both requiring an application of skill and effort.
(a)The End Product is a customised implementation of the Emoticon.

(b)The End Product is something that incorporates the Item as well as other things, so that it is larger in scope and different in nature than the Item.

4. You can create the End Product for a client, and this license is then transferred from you to your client.
5. You can Sell and make any number of copies of the single End Product.
6 .You can modify or manipulate the Item. You can combine the Item with other works and make a derivative work from it. The resulting works are subject to the terms of this license. You can do these things as long as the End Product you then create is one that’s permitted under clause 3.

Restrictions

7. This license is a “single application” license and not a “multi-use” license, which means that you can’t use the Item to create more than one unique End Product.
8. You can’t re-distribute the Item as stock, in a tool or template, or with source files. You can’t do this with an Item either on its own or bundled with other items, and even if you modify the Item. You can’t re-distribute or make available the Item as-is or with superficial modifications.

9. Although you can modify the Item and therefore delete components before creating your single End Product, you can’t extract and use a single component of an Item on a stand-alone basis.
10. You must not permit an end user of the End Product to extract the Item and use it separately from the End Product.
11. You can’t use an Item in a logo, trademark, or service mark.
12. The author of the Item retains ownership of the Item but grants you the license on these terms. This license is between the author of the Item and you.
